Carpet for an old market town
Pontefract is an old town, and its housing comes from many different eras: Victorian terraces close to the centre around Tanshelf and Monkhill, family semis out towards Carleton, older stone cottages in villages such as Darrington and Ackworth, and terraced streets in former mining communities like Featherstone.
That variety is exactly why we prefer to see a room before recommending a carpet. Ceiling height, how much light comes in and how many people use the stairs all change what we'd suggest.
What our customers say

Kathryn K. · Google review, Sept 2023
So happy with floor coverings local! Had all downstairs (kitchen, hall, w/c & living room) fully laminated last week. Took the fitter 2 full days, he worked so hard! Absolute pleasure to have in our home and over the moon with the results and the price! Would 100% recommend.
Lauren H. · Google review, Aug 2023
Brilliant service, very quick and easy from making our first enquiry to getting a quote and getting it fitted. We had a full house fitted with both carpet and laminate. Everything was explained to us clearly and no hidden charges. The day of the fitting went very smoothly. The fitters arrived as arranged and were hardworking and got the whole house done very quickly to a very high standard. I would highly recommended floor coverings local.

Good to know
Why don't you have a shop in Pontefract?
Because a shop would cost you money. Rent, rates and display stock all end up in the price of the carpet. We run a home showroom instead, so you choose in your own house and we pass the savings on.
What happens if I don't go ahead after the visit?
Nothing at all. The visit, measure and quote are free and there's no obligation. Keep the quote, think it over, and call us if and when you're ready.
Do you carpet bungalows and flats as well as houses?
Yes. For smaller homes up to 70m², our loop pile Budget deal at £699 is often a good fit. We'll measure on the visit and tell you which package suits.
Can I have the same carpet through the lounge, hall and stairs?
Yes, and it can make a home feel bigger. We'll suggest a carpet tough enough for the stairs that still feels comfortable in the lounge, and measure so the runs line up neatly at each doorway.
Which payment methods do you take?
Cash or any major debit or credit card. We don't offer finance.
Do you visit Featherstone, Ackworth and Knottingley?
Yes. Our home showroom covers Pontefract and the surrounding towns and villages, including Featherstone, Ackworth, Knottingley, Ferrybridge and Darrington.
